The Do’s and Don’ts After a Wax
Congratulations on your fresh wax! To keep your skin smooth, healthy, and irritation-free, post-wax care is essential. Follow these do’s and don’ts to maintain your results and ensure your skin stays happy.
The Do’s
Soothe and Calm Your Skin
Apply a gentle, soothing product to calm your skin immediately after waxing. My personal recommendation is the Hive Daily Ingrown Hair Serum from Honeycomb Waxing Company. It’s packed with:
- Organic Aloe Leaf Juice: to calm and moisturize.
- Lavender: to reduce redness and soothe irritation.
- Hyaluronic Acid: for a hydration boost.
Exfoliate Regularly
Begin exfoliating 2-3 days after your wax to prevent ingrown hairs and keep your skin smooth. My exfoliating mitts are a game-changer—use them in the shower for manual exfoliation. For deeper exfoliation, skip the soap, or use it daily with your favorite cleanser.
Hydrate Your Skin
Keep your skin moisturized with Milk and Honey Body Lotion. This luxurious lotion features:
- Organic Aloe Leaf Juice: to calm and moisturize.
- Honey: to promote healing and regeneration.
Hydration helps maintain the elasticity and health of your skin post-wax.
Spot Treat Ingrowns
If you notice an ingrown hair, use the Hive Tonic Ingrown Spot Treatment. Its potent blend of:
- Glycolic Acid and Malic Acid: exfoliates deeply.
- White Willow Bark Extract: soothes and prevents further irritation.
Another excellent option is PFB Regular, designed specifically to lift trapped hairs and improve the appearance of razor burn or bumps.
Wear Loose Clothing
Opt for breathable, loose-fitting clothes for the first 24 hours to avoid irritation caused by friction or tight fabrics.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within—healthy skin starts with good hydration!
The Don’ts
Don’t Touch or Pick at Your Skin
Avoid touching the freshly waxed area to prevent introducing bacteria that could cause irritation or infection.
Avoid Heat
Steer clear of extremely hot showers, baths, saunas, or steam rooms for at least 24-48 hours. Heat can irritate your skin and open your pores, increasing the risk of infection.
Don’t Exfoliate Too Soon
Exfoliating too early can irritate the sensitive skin. Wait at least 2-3 days before using an exfoliating mitt or chemical exfoliants.
Skip the Gym
Sweat and friction can irritate freshly waxed skin. Avoid intense workouts for 24 hours to let your skin recover.
Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning
Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive to the sun. Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 48 hours. If you must go out, use a gentle, non-comedogenic sunscreen.
No Scented Products
Fragrances in lotions, perfumes, or body washes can irritate freshly waxed skin. Stick to gentle, fragrance-free products during the first couple of days.
Your Home Care Routine
For the best waxing results, commit to a consistent home care routine:
- Daily Moisturizing: Use Milk and Honey Body Lotion to keep your skin hydrated.
- Exfoliation: Incorporate an exfoliating mitt 2-3 times a week to help prevent ingrowns.
- Spot Treatment: Apply Hive Tonic or PFB Regular to target and treat stubborn ingrown hairs.
